Environment

Watervale Shopping Centre recognises that it has a significant role in the development of sustainable communities of the future. For us, sustainability is about ensuring we leave the communities where we operate, and the environment that they enjoy, in great shape for future generations. We approach this by bringing the voice of our stakeholders into how we work and how we deliver a sustainable shopping experience, which we operate efficiently and minimise the impact on the environment.

The design of the shopping centre includes a number of environmental initiatives including:

  • Rain water capture and use for landscape irrigation

  • Bio-retention of stormwater within the car parking areas

  • Solar hot water systems to common areas

  • The use and selection of plants and materials that have a low environmental impact and high energy efficiency
